Students from 40 Business Schools Gather at
Emory University to Hone Leadership Skills

Executives from Lehman Brothers, UPS, Merrill Lynch, Coca-Cola
and Macy’s to Share Insights with Students

ATLANTA, GA (Jan. 24, 2007) - Business students often study real-world cases to learn about leadership, innovation and ethics. Next week, undergraduate student leaders from 40 top-tier schools U.S. schools and 12 international schools will gather at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School to compare best practices, discuss leadership, and learn directly from executives from Lehman Brothers, UPS, Merrill Lynch, Coca-Cola and Macy’s. The Undergraduate Business School Leadership Conference will be held February 1 - 3, at Goizueta Business School (1300 Clifton Road).

Students attending the eighth annual conference will achieve a better understanding of the skills needed for effective leadership. The goal is to empower students with the necessary skills to return to their home schools and make a significant and positive impact on their respective student bodies. Participants will leave the conference with an enriched understanding of what it takes to be a leader, a heightened sense of what their peers are doing, and a strong network of fellow undergraduate leaders that will benefit them while in school and later in the workforce.

Conference highlights include the introductory keynote by Steven Levitt, author of Freakonomics, on Feb. 1 at 4:30pm in Glenn Memorial Auditorium (1660 North Decatur Road ). The conference also will include leadership roundtables with groups of Atlanta business leaders speaking to students about their experiences in their respective industries.

According to Associate Dean and BBA Program Director Andrea Hershatter, the conference, now in its eighth year, owes its success to its genesis.

“To me, the most impressive component of this program is that it has been conceptualized and run entirely by our students from the beginning. They are uniquely qualified to determine the content and contacts that will be most beneficial, and their peers at other schools have responded with a great deal of enthusiasm. There are now other business school conferences that attempt to emulate the UBSLC, but ours remains the standard by which they are all judged. I am extraordinarily proud of our students and this event,” said Hershatter.
