Goizueta Business School to Host
First Annual Teen Leadership Summit
ATLANTA (February 7, 2007) – Student leaders from the MBA Program at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School will provide leadership training to 120 high school students at a “Teen Leadership Summit” this Saturday, February 10.
Goizueta Business School, ranked number one in leadership education by BusinessWeek in 2004, is partnering with 21st Century Leaders to deliver training workshops in business leadership, personal leadership, and servant leadership.
High school students participating in personal leadership workshop teams will make ‘pitches’ for their business concepts at 1:15pm in room 500 of Goizueta Business School (1300 Clifton Road). Kimberly-Clark Corporation is providing the corporate support to make the program a reality.
Kevin Quandt, a second-year MBA student and lead organizer of the event, said, “I came back to business school for more than a classroom experience. Getting an opportunity to reach out to the community and to teach others the leadership skills we’ve gained here is invaluable.”
Larry Benveniste, Dean of Goizueta Business School, believes programs like this distinguish the Goizueta community. “The strength of this school lies in the faculty and students making real contributions to the larger community. The Teen Leadership Summit demonstrates the qualities of leadership and service we have come to expect of students, faculty and staff.”
According to Professor Steve Walton, Interim Dean of the Full-time MBA Program, “It’s never too early to start thinking about what leadership really means to people. I can’t think of a better way for students to practice their leadership skills than by helping to develop the next generation of leaders.”
21st Century Leaders, operated under the charter of Georgia Business Forum, Inc., is a non-profit organization that collaborates with business and education leaders to develop, inspire and nurture students to make a positive impact on their schools, communities and future places of work. The mission of 21st Century Leaders is to increase the number, skills and diversity of Georgia’s future leaders by delivering world-class business leadership training to Georgia high school students.
Emory University’s Goizueta Business School teaches students to become leaders who not only create value for their organizations, but also improve society. Founded in 1919, the School is home to an undergraduate degree program, a full-time MBA, a one-year MBA, an evening MBA, the W. Cliff Oxford Executive MBA (weekend and modular formats), and a doctoral program together with a set of innovative non-degree Executive Development programs. The School’s mission is to educate principled leaders for global enterprise.
