Emory Executive Development Announces Customized Program for KPMG

ATLANTA (January 25, 2008) – Emory Executive Development (EED) announced today the creation of a new customized program with KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm. KPMG selected Emory to design and deliver an executive development program for select, top leaders in their internal marketing group.

The resulting Marketing Management Development Program (MMDP) was custom-designed, by Emory Executive Development, to be delivered mid-way into a year long, group business challenge project. The main objectives of MMDP are to enhance business acumen, develop leadership, teamwork and support the success of the business challenge.

Participants, based throughout North America and Europe, have limited face-to-face contact during the ongoing business challenge project. Therefore, an executive coaching component has been integrated throughout the learning experience to manage virtual team dynamics and process. The one-week, MMDP residency program for the KPMG team, was recently delivered on-site at the Goizueta Foundation Center adjacent to the Goizueta Business School.

"At KPMG we recognize that our future depends on nurturing individual talent," said Caroline Bradley, an Associate Director for Marketing with KPMG LLP. "The business case is indisputable: if KPMG is to continue our success and enhance our reputation in the marketplace, developing the skills, knowledge and capabilities of our people is absolutely central to the success of KPMG. We feel fortunate to work with Emory Executive Development in these efforts."

Main methodologies of the MMDP design included knowledge exchange, customized case studies and a recreational marketing event in the form of a wine tasting. "We designed a MBA-style learning experience with a focus on operations, strategy, finance and leadership," states Peter Roberts, Associate Professor of Organization & Management - Faculty Director, “Relevance and application to KPMG were achieved through content customization and daily reports from participants to underscore key learnings.

While EED is ranked #7 among U.S. business schools for best design of customized programs, The Financial Times also ranks EED in the top 5 in the world for the relevance of new skills it develops, the ease with which they are implemented and the extent to which its programs inspire new ways of thinking. "Our mission is not unlike KPMG's, we strive to create value for individuals, organizations and society," states Nicole Klein, Account Director, Emory Executive Development, "We think beyond programmatic delivery to establish ongoing relationships by offering a variety of services to support strategic learning initiatives for our clients. We look forward to a long term relationship with KPMG."
