
In April l, the Georgia Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) hosts the NAIOP School Challenge. This academic competition presents teams from some of the top business schools in Georgia with a problem in the form of a.case study and teams prepare and present their solutions to the judges in this annual event. The Emory team has placed first for four consecutive years and won seven of the last eleven competitions (1999-2010).
NAIOP is a professional organization for developers and owners of commercial real estate. Over 16,000 real estate professionals belong to an extensive network of 55 NAIOP chapters located in the United States and Canada. With over 530 members, the Georgia Chapter of NAIOP is among the association's largest and strongest chapters.
Each year professor Roy Black reaches out to the Goizueta community for unique real estate scenarios to be used in the Goizueta Business School Case Competition. The purpose of this internal competition is to advance students’ knowledge of a particular asset class and provide them with the opportunity to showcase their abilities in a real world setting. Working in small teams, participants are encouraged to reach out to Goizueta amluni and apply course learnings to deliver a project solution that reflects current market conditions. Each team is asked to produce a written report, including financial projections, project timeline and key considerations. The case competition concludes with each team conducting a 20-25 minute verbal presentation in front of a judging panel that consists of local real estate professionals and prestigious alumni.
