Brandon Smith is a Lecturer in the Practice of Management Communication at the Goizueta Business School at Emory University and a Founding Principal of Core Growth Partners, a consulting firm specializing in leadership development and strategic culture building. With extensive experience in both executive development and corporate growth, Brandon’s expertise lies in the following domains:
Brandon’s work at Core Growth Partners is notable for its cutting edge approach at marrying leadership development with strategy definition and execution. Specifically, Brandon’s work helps clients to address the following concerns: aligning their cultural values and practices with what their customers really value, creating a core set of “guiding ideas” that carries the firm through rough waters, overcoming the forces of commoditization in their respective industries, recruiting and retaining the “right” talent, and creating a relationship with customers that goes beyond price. Brandon has worked with organizations representing a variety of industries ranging from quick service restaurants to engineering services including numerous Fortune 100 “Best Companies To Work For.”
Brandon ’s recent teaching includes courses in leadership communication, advanced management communication, leadership development and culture management. Brandon teaches and coaches in the full-time MBA program, Evening MBA program and Executive Education. Brandon also serves as a frequent contributor to STRATEGY magazine in areas of leadership, culture, and strategy.
Prior work experience includes leadership roles at AEGON (NYSE: AEG), a global insurance and financial services provider as well as Ridgeview Institute, a world-renown inpatient mental health facility. While at AEGON, Brandon managed the training and client development arm for North American financial institution clients. In addition, Brandon possesses an extensive background in the clinical counseling arena. At Ridgeview Institute, Brandon counseled numerous clients in both professional and clinical contexts.
Brandon received an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University with a concentration in communications and team dynamics. His graduate work includes a M.S. in counseling from Georgia State University as well as a M.B.A. from Emory University's Goizueta Business School.
Brandon resides in Atlanta with his wife and their three children.
