Our Executive MBA program is currently ranked among the top programs globally by leading rankings publications: BusinessWeek (No. 15 in the world) and the Financial Times (No. 12 among US-based programs).
The Admissions Committee reviews each application to determine whether a candidate will be successful in the academically rigorous program and will add value to the classroom environment. The Committee requires the following:
For more information, review our Application Checklist.
No. You may submit the application in various parts, as you complete them, or you may have various components of the application sent directly to the Admissions Office.
Interviews are required for the Executive MBA Program. You may interview whether or not you have an application on file, and you are not obligated to apply even if you have interviewed. We conduct interviews year-round in Atlanta for both program formats. We also conduct interviews in select cities outside of Atlanta throughout the year; please contact the EMBA Admissions Office for a schedule. Through the interview process, we hope to understand your career progression and why you are considering pursuing your MBA. Generally, we spend 45 minutes to 1 hour in the interview. On a case-by-case basis, we will consider telephone interviews for those who cannot travel to Atlanta.
Financial corporate sponsorship is not a factor in the admissions process. All Executive MBA students must have the support of their employers in the form of time away from the office to attend class sessions and the International Colloquium.
Generally, the EMBA program enrolls between 35-45 students in its Modular format and between 65-75 students in its Weekend format.
The Executive MBA Program requires a GMAT score or approved waiver.
Both formats of the Executive MBA Program are taught by Goizueta's world-class, premier faculty and are held on Emory University's main campus in Atlanta. Classes for the Weekend EMBA format students begin in August and meet on alternating weekends (all day Friday and Saturdays and, sometimes, Thursdays) over a 21 month period. Classes for the Modular EMBA format students begin in September and meet for nine residency periods (7-10 days) over 20 months. In addition, both formats have a mandatory International Colloquium.
For more information, view our Format Comparison Chart.
The basic difference in student expectations surrounds the Modular EMBA residency format. During the on-campus residency modules, students may choose to reside on campus at the Emory Conference Center or may decide to reside elsewhere in the city of Atlanta. All students must be within a reasonable commute of Goizueta for all residency modules as all Modular students are expected to be in class from 8am-5pm, and participate in evening work groups during residency modules. Modular students are required to remain at Goizueta for lunch and dinner. Because of the academic schedule during residency modules, students should not expect to participate in outside activities that are not related to the program, regardless of where they reside during residency modules.
