Deloitte Case Competition - An Impressive Victory for Goizueta BBAs
Deloitte Consulting recently held its 4th annual case competition between Emory University and Georgia Tech. The challenge is designed to provide undergraduate students with a meaningful and enjoyable exposure to the field of management consulting. With four Emory teams entering the competition and another four teams from Georgia Tech, the case challenge was an invaluable inter-school experience. Through creative analyses, innovative recommendations, and outstanding presentation skills, Emory's outstanding teams, comprised of Goizueta Business School BBA students, claimed the 1st and 2nd place prizes. Emory also captured the overall school win, receiving an average score of 4.1 out of a possible 5.
Jordan Pious, a senior in the BBA Program at the Goizueta Business school states, "Putting scores and winning teams aside, the case competition gave students a real-life, hands-on experience in tackling important management decisions through strategic analysis. I learned how valuable teamwork is in a consulting environment, and moreover, how well the business school has prepared each and every one of us for leveraging group dynamics in a business setting. Personally, I could not be more proud of my team, the hard work we put into the process, and the pride we had in presenting our findings and analysis to a panel of intelligent and accredited consultants from Deloitte. This experience has helped me in recognizing my personal and team-related strengths, as well as identifying the opportunity I have to further develop my skill-sets and analytical capabilities during my last year at Goizueta and also the career I choose to pursue after graduation."
Matthew Devack, second year business analyst within the Strategy and Operations department at Deloitte Consulting, was very impressed with this year's performance, "Emory's teams performed extraordinarily well during the competition. Overall, Emory had an outstanding showing that demonstrated the strength of the BBA program and its students." Special thanks to Professor Monica Worline who assisted in serving as a judge for the competition. Her help and feedback was extremely valuable to the success of the competition. To the Goizueta BBA students, congratulations on a job well done!
