Goizueta Launches Leadership Pilot Program
Goizueta Business School has increased its efforts to expose all students to the elements of leadership examined and fostered in the Full-Time MBA Program. With a grant from The Goizueta Foundation, the consulting firm of Accenture was retained to collaborate with committees of faculty, senior staff, and students to create a student leadership development plan and a corresponding pilot study based on a developmental model created by the school's vice dean, Maryam Alavi.
The pilot program began this fall. Under the leadership of recently hired Mark Dillard, director of the Leadership Development Program, the school-wide initiative will address key developmental requirements of students at various levels. The goal is to nurture personally and professionally evolved individuals with the ability to make significant contributions to the organizations and communities they serve.
Mark comes to Goizueta with a combination of 15-plus years' corporate and academic experience in managing, developing and delivering leadership development programs. He began his career as a senior manager at AT Kearney and Accenture, then joined The Coca-Cola Company as manager of organization effectiveness. He then spent three years at Bucknell University designing learning programs and supporting their strategic plan as Director of Strategy before moving back to Atlanta in late 2006 to join Right Management Consultants where he managed their leadership development practice for the Southern region. Mark received his MS degree in industrial/organizational psychology from Valdosta State University and his BA in Psychology from Furman University.
Mark brings broad-based leadership development experience, including understanding of learning theory, experience in creating a leadership curriculum, and knowledge of various delivery methods and assessment tools/techniques. In addition, he has extensive program management experience which will be valuable in delivering the leadership program.
Mark and his wife, Sheri, live in Atlanta's Virginia-Highlands neighborhood with their twelve year-old son (Michael) and eight year-old twins (Cory and Jacob).
