Emory Takes First Prize in Human Capital Case Competition
Racing against both the clock and their competitors, Emory University's Goizueta Business School took first place and an award of $15,000 in the second annual National MBA Human Capital Case Competition. The event, which took place from Oct 16-18, 2008, was hosted by the Vanderbilt's Owen Graduate School of Management and sponsored by Deloitte and GE.

The challenge
Over the course of three days, ten teams of graduate students from top universities, including UNC, Northwestern, Cornell and others, focused their attention on issues related to human capital, a rapidly emerging academic and professional field. The top teams were selected based on how well they demonstrated the link between human capital solutions and real business impact. Executives from Deloitte and GE served as judges for the contest.
The winning team
Advised by Professor Michael Sacks, the Goizueta team included the following Full-Time MBA students:
- David Shanklin
- Abbey Seaboyer
- Kathleen Kuhnert
- Brian Goebel
- Greg Barnes
- Shreya Balig
Congratulations to Professor Sacks and the entire team!
