ECAI publishes white paper - "A Research Agenda for Alternative Investments: A Limited Partner’s Perspective"

The Emory Center for Alternative Investments is proud to announce the publication of the white paper - "A Research Agenda for Alternative Investments: A Limited Partner’s Perspective" by Prof. Klaas P. Baks and Prof. Chris Rider (September 2009).

The white paper reflects the Center’s broad research agenda in alternatives based on vital issues faced by limited partners.  The purpose of this industry-relevant research agenda is two-fold: first, to provide a platform to share and inform our collective understanding of what alternatives do and do not do, and second, to build a network of institutional investors and alternative asset managers in support of the Center and its research agenda.

As you will see, the agenda is built on feedback from the industry about the most important issues facing this community. Because the research agenda is a working document that will evolve with the industry, we welcome your feedback and involvement to shape the Center’s future research – please email your responses to cai@emory.edu.

Based on our initial analysis the following five key areas of research are identified: (i) asset allocation, (ii) value creation, (iii) incentive alignment, (iv) transparency, and (v) oversight, regulation & taxation. The white paper is available on the Center’s website.
